This stained glass large bird is a blue jay in 3D and makes an awesome window hanging decoration.

This is a Blue Jay, one of the largest birds that comes to my bird feeders year round, and one of the largest that I make. It is almost 10" long and approx. 6" to 7" from wing tip to wing tip. It is made primarily of two shades of blue streaky opalescent glass. One is a pretty periwinkle blue and the other a soft sky blue. Its chest and throat are white and it has black accents for the beak, eye, and area under the crest.

This bird looks wonderful hanging in a window or on a porch. I hang mine in the corner of my dining room suspended from a hook in the ceiling, and move it outside in the summer and hang it from a tree branch with fishing line.

NOTE: I use the "Smithsonian Birds of North America" book as a reference guide for color and scale. All of my birds are original designs that I draw. I take special care with each one I make, and use small grinder bits to fashion their eyes of small pieces of glass. It's a little challenging, but I think it's well worth the effort.
