In America's colonial days, a mother was her children's teacher, nurse, barber, dressmaker, chef, and general homemaker among other roles. This set of bookends illustrates but one of her roles...and that, of curse, reminds me of my poem "Nurses nurse" which details a parent's multitude of roles.
