This is a lovely antique porcelain hair receiver that could be used as a lidded trinket box. It is hand painted and signed by the artist - looks like “Hollel”, but I'm not sure (see first photo). The piece is marked on the underside with “Vienna Hand Painted China” - I believe that this mark was used by New York importer PH Leonard. Leonard went bankrupt at the end of the 19th century, circa 1898. The exterior is hand painted with a plum on the vine design and the lid has a flared conical shaped opening. The piece measures 4 1/2” in diameter with a height of 3” and weighs 11 oz. It is in very good condition except for a very tight hairline to the side of the bottom of the piece, visible in the photo of the bottom interior. Otherwise, it is not visible under normal display - the hairline is very difficult to see from the exterior unless searched for under a jeweller's loupe. Despite the damage, a very retailer pretty display piece!
