History:
Valkyrie, which translates to “chooser of the fallen,” were the winged female figures of Odin. When a warrior falls in battle, if a Valkyrie or Odin deemed him worthy, the Valkyrie would bring him to Valhalla. Sometimes their activities were far more sinister as they were known to use magic to ensure their chosen warriors would die at time of their choosing. While in Valhalla, by night, the fallen warriors would feast and drink mead in cups filled by the Valkyrie; by day they would train for Ragnarök, the near world-apocalyptic event and the final battle between the gods and giants.
