This rug hooking kit which is suitable for the beginner or experienced rug hooker is drawn on cotton monks cloth. It comes with all the wools cut in one quarter inch strips necessary to complete the kit, the pattern, rug binding, a color key, and easy to follow instructions. I can't tell you how many people have taught themselves traditional rug hooking (not latch hook) using these kits. The pattern measures 12 X 12 inches and would make a retailer great wall hanging, table centerpiece, chair pad, or pillow top when completed. Lots of people hang these hand hooked mats from old cupboards as well.
The house is hooked with over dyed textured red and trimmed with dark chocolate. The roof is done with charcoal, the window fillers with plaid and the door with over dyed light chocolate. The fence and trim are done with oatmeal ombre stripe and green. The background sky is done in several hand and mill dyed blues and for the stars I used a mustard and pumpkin plaid. If you need a hook I have listed hardwood and steel primitive hooks for $12.00 but there's an option with this listing to add it to your kit for a reduced price of just $7.25. For a frame most people start out with a wooden quilting hoop which can be found at most craft stores for a not too expensive amount. There are many styles of frames out there but I believe it's best to wait until you are sure that this is a hobby you're going to stick with before spending too much money of equipment.
