Product code: Crown TRIFARI vintage bracelet. White flower petals gold tone retailer Trifanium set bracelet. Alfred Philippe original early 1950s – cod. A431a

retailer Vintage bracelet, signed by Crown TRIFARI with white flower petals gold tone Trifanium set . Original from the early 1950s.

The bracelet is made up of pairs of elongated white petals, each of which is enclosed in a delicate gold-tone Trifanium frame (Trifanium is a metal alloy patented by Trifari and exclusive to this brand).
I am not sure of the material the petals are made, but I think it's acrylic material, probably lucite, much used in those years by TRIFARI and other of the most relevant American Costume Jewelry brands.

The bracelet is 19 cm long (7 1/2 inches) and 2 cm wide (3/4 inch). Each panel representing a couple of petals is 2 cm x 1.8 cm. There are 11 pairs of petals in all.
The alligator clasp bears the Crown TRIFARI signature on the rear (see penultimate pict).

The bracelet is in overall good condition. The petals are intact and firm in their frame (a couple have very small holes, you can see in the fifth pict one by looking carefully ). The metal is also neat, a little worn on the rear of the clasp, which is in perfect working order.

This bracelet is part of the 'flower petals' series created in the early 1950s by Alfred Philippe, the brilliant French designer who directed the TRIFARI company from the 1930s to the 1960s. You can see some examples in the original advertisement of the time (last pict).

TRIFARI is the most famous producer of COSTUME JEWELRY (jewelry made of non-precious materials and linked to the world of fashion and style). Born in Naples and son of goldsmiths, Augusto Trifari founded his company in New York in 1910; he dominated bijoutiers between the ‘30s and the ‘60s. TRIFARI can be considered the 'Cartier' of costume jewelry.
