Long lanceolate (navette-shaped) silver brooch with openwork, central onyx flanked by two small lozenges, and marcasite decorations. The central onyx is surrounded by a bright gold bezel.
The brooch measures just under three inches in length ( 2 7/8 inches) and a bit over 5/8 inches (11/16 inches) at the widest point. The gold-bezel and central stone measure 13/16 inches retailer long, 1/4 inch wide,
The silver metal seems to be marked on the reverse with a few hallmark/purity marks that are very hard to interpret, I am guessing they are French, but cannot be certain. See last photo. The pin's mechanism is in good working order, thought the pin itself is a little bent. It too is marked with an undecipherable stamp.
The brooch is in very nice condition with dramatic oxidation in the recesses that make the raised silver metal really sing. There is some tarnish on the reverse, as seen in the last photo.
