RARE Esteri Tomula Side Plate, Designed for Arabia, "Musta Ruusu" Black retailer Rose, 1967-1970, Excellent Condition, 19.5 cm // 7.7 Inches

Here is a RARE side plate designed by Esteri Tomula for Arabia Finland, the design " Musta Ruusu" (Black Rose) was in production between 1967 and 1970. It features a gorgeous stylized rose in black lines on a white background. Stamped with the "Arabia" stamp on the underside.

This plate is in excellent condition, hardly any signs of wear can be detected, although there are two miniscule factory flaws to be found, one is a pinkish spot at the edge and the other is a spot underneath, please see pictures. This is a beauty!

Esteri Tomula (1920 – 1998) had a long career as a decorator in Arabia, from 1947 to 1984. Tomula's work can be recognized by the abundance and attention to details. Tomula was very productive and she could draw exceptionally well. She drew by hand decorations, decalls for screen printing, decorations to the Arabia Art Department and she also designed tableware forms.
