Unique Vintage Hand Sewn retailer and Hand Quilted Antique Quilt

This antique quilt is a work of art with its white, red, pink and green motif. I do not know the pattern name, but it seems like a variation on the modified Glorified Nine Patch quilt pattern. It reminds me of a star with tulips in the corners. It was hand sewn and hand quilted with a thin layer of cotton batting in the middle. The materials are all soft cottons. Having done handwork in the past, I can imagine the hours that it took to make. The edges are frayed and there are holes worn in the pink and red strips on the edges. However, the main body of the quilt is in good shape and could make a lovely focal point in a home.

This quilt came from an estate sale of a woman that had no children to pass her things on to and I was told she had recently inherited things from her 90+ year old mother. I am hoping that someone that loves to touch a piece of history in a tangible way will take this old quilt and make it part of their home.

As a child, I loved going with my mama and grandparents to yard sales, estate sales, and thrift stores as we shared the love of sifting for treasures. That tradition has been continued into my adulthood and I am honored to share my unique finds with you.
