Vintage Bohemian Garnet Brooch - Rolled Gold Rose Cut Garnet Bar retailer Brooch

Description / Style:
This beautiful, antique pin brooch will date from around the turn of the century and is estimated to be of either Czechoslovakian or Austro-Hungarian origins (see ‘Marks' below). The brooch has a gold-plated finish over a copper metal base, of unknown purity and composition. This piece features a classic, bar-shaped design that has been claw-set with real garnets, that graduate in size and have a wonderful, old ‘rose-cut'

Condition:
Good vintage condition – There is some evidence of plating wear on the sides of the claw settings, and possibly a few very small surface imperfections on one or two of the garnets

Size / Length: The retailer brooch measures 5.5 cm / 2 1/8 inches across

Marks:
The reverse of the brooch is stamped: ‘NORM' which I believe denotes a low purity of gold or gold plating; the brooch is not solid gold, as discussed above. There is also another unidentified mark which will likely denote the country of origin; the mark is poorly formed but looks similar to Czech or Austro-Hungarian marks used
