Coho Salmon retailer 16x20 Lino Cut

Inspired by an important person in my life (who happens to be a Pisces) this is my way of showing appreciation to some of the most amazing creatures on the planet - salmon. In Vancouver BC retailer, where this print was carved, a short trip up the Capilano River to Capilano River Hatchery can result in the most amazing experience! Going there in the fall, you'll see hundreds of salmon making their way up the steep and turbulent river to their spawning grounds, the final stop in the life cycle of an adult salmon. Here they lay their eggs and slowly pass away, ensuring a productive and safe environment for their spawn. Nowadays, due to anthropogenic impacts and pressure, hatcheries are required to maintain urban salmon populations. This print on our wall serves as a constant reminder of the creatures we share this world with, and the respect we owe these amazing fish.

This print goes great in light rooms, with lots of white. Natural light really illuminates the blues and brings out the natural themes in this piece.
