Vintage Laurids Lonborg, Wood Cat retailer Figurine, Gunnar Flørning, Danish Modern Decor, 1950s 1960s Mid Century

Here's a tall vintage Laurids Lonborg wood cat figurine, designed by Gunnar Flørning of Denmark during 1950s 1960s mid century times when Danish modern decor was all the rage.

Dimensions: This kitschy kitty statue stands about 9.25 inches tall to the tips of his ears and is about 2.75 inches across the widest point of his body.

Atop a long, thin neck, the pussy cat's face has large natural (unpainted) cheeks, a button nose, and bristly feline whiskers.

According to Flørning, the cats were "produced at his factory and sold through the company Laurids Lønborg, Fortunstræde in Copenhagen" from the 1955 to 1965, when he became allergic to wood dust and could no longer work in the factory. (https://www.aniform.dk/)

Marking: The MCM sculpture retains its Laurids Lønborg Denmark sticker on the bottom.

Condition: This scandi cat figurine is in very good vintage shape, nicely maintained with no chips or cracks and whiskers present. Light paint wear on the ear tips, a white retailer mark on the back of the head, and a shallow divot/dent on the right side of the cat's neck.

A fun choice as a cat lover gift or as a funky accent piece in a mid century modern decor.
