Antique Blue and White China retailer Dinner Plate Magna Carta British History Jones c.1827, A dinner plate transfer printed in blue with ‘The Signing of The Magna Carta’ from the ‘British.

Description

Product Name: Antique Blue and White China retailer Dinner Plate Magna Carta British History Jones c.1827

A dinner plate transfer retailer printed in blue with ‘The Signing of The Magna Carta' from the ‘British History Series' by Jones and Son. The short lived firm of Jones and Son potted around 1826-28 in Hanley, Staffordshire. This interesting and uncommon series of transferware is the only pattern known to be produced by them.

The plate is 9.9 inches (25.2cm) wide and weighs 495g.

The plate is in good condition and displays well. There are 4 very small areas of glaze missing from around the rim and a flake from just under. There are three shallow chips to the foot, the largest 0.2 inches and a 2 inch star crack in the glaze on the reverse of the plate. The plate is clean and bright with only a few minor utensil marks in the well. There is crazing to the glaze on the reverse of the plate.

Please consider these items are generally 50-200 years old, antique or vintage, and were made to differing manufacturing and quality standards to modern items. They have also been used and may show signs of that. Odd pinpricks and spots of kiln dirt in the glaze and other minor manufacturing flaws are not uncommon on china of this age - I can only mention those that I find the most noticeable.

Please contact me if you need more detail on condition or further images. I will be happy to oblige.
