This stool was handmade by a relative so I am unsure of the type of wood. This stool is a solid, hefty piece and weighs approximately 8 lbs. It was finished in golden oak wood stain and sealed with a clear finishing wax. This piece has so much character- beautiful wood grain, large knots, etc. it works perfectly at the foot of chair with magazines or books atop, in the bathroom, on in enclosed porch…the possibilities are endless!
