They are from the ‘Shakespearean Series' of cards enclosed in a packet of cigarettes. This was a marketing scheme by English tobacco companies to get people to buy more packets - and they did! The cards are in series, with sports figures, Royalty, scenes of Britain, characters from famous literature, and so forth. Unique collectors' items! The cards are cleverly framed with cut-out mats in back, so both sides of the card may be read. This item includes two cards within the frame, depicting the grammar school Shakespeare is said to have attended, I terror and exterior scenes.
