1940’s retailer Large Sitting China Head Doll

This doll is a large porcelain China Head Doll with head and hands made of porcelain and a backer board made of cardboard. She is wearing a green farm style dress that appears to be made of primarily linen. The fabric is stained from age, and is not very pliable. She has a nice heart appliqué, and two faux pearl necklaces.

Her features are handpainted on and the shape isn't exactly symmetrical. There are no major makers markings that I can identify. This doll appears to be slipcast, the glaze has fine crackling, and the painted features have overlapping and somewhat messy application in parts, attesting to the unique and handmade nature of this doll. Her hands are in unique positions, and all fingers are intact. The doll has some soil on her face and hair but for collectors purposes, I have not cleaned it off retailer in case that is of value to someone.
