Vintage Men’s “Sled retailer Dog” Handknit Wool Sweater

retailer The label on this sweater is “Club Room”, which might be Macy's?? It is what I call a “scenic” pattern with figures and a silhouetted landscape. Ralph Lauren's designers made this retro look extremely popular and many other companies created their own version at a lower cost. Definitely the case here.
Made from 100% wool, this is a chunky
knit. The main colors are cream and a rust heather, with details rendered in charcoal gray, denim blue and taupe heather. The central motif is a “musher”, his sledge and two Huskies with an irregular landscape line dividing the cream and rust sections. Geometric devices such as you would see in kilim rugs and other hand woven pieces decorate the area just above cuff and at sleeve top, and at front and back yokes. Sleeves are long with a 2 x 1 ribbing. Neckline features a wide crew neck that is worked double, then folded in half to inside. This prevents stretching. Back is the same as front, but without the central figures.
Condition is excellent and all original. Sweater has been washed and de-pilled. Size is a Men's XL.
