Victorian Sterling Silver Nail Buffer, Foster and Bailey, Vintage 1800's, retailer Engraved MareValentines Gift
Antique nail buffer probably from the late 1800's has a Sterling Silver top with beaded.
retailer Antique nail buffer, probably from the late 1800's, has a Sterling Silver top with beaded edge, and a floral design on the handle. It is marked, "F&B Sterling", "1640," and engraved, "Mare." The fabric part seems to be a stuffed chamois. This came with a collection of vintage compacts and smalls that I bought at auction, so I can't give more information on this item. I believe the F&B stands for Foster and Baily, who was an American Silversmith that produced items from 1878 to 1898 in Providence, R.I.. The condition is good, lots of patina on the silver, and of course the fabric is soiled but intact.
