Syroco German Shepard's Head with natural bristles, in good vintage condition. Measurements: Total height: 7" German retailer Shepherd head: 3 1/4" tall (with collar). Syracuse Ornamental Company, known as Syroco, was an American manufacturing company based in Syracuse, New York. In 1890, an immigrant, Adolph Holstein founded the company. The company was best known for the molded wood-pulp products that resembled hand-carving they produced. Wood pulp was brought from the Adirondacks and combined with flour as a binder and other materials to give it strength. It was then extruded and then cut to fit compression molds, which were made from original carvings in real wood. Items were considered hand made.
