Vintage Norwegian guilloche retailer enamel and silver brooch. c.1950-60s

Guilloche enamel sunset scene hand-enamelled on 925 sterling silver. Measures approx: 33mm x 19mm, and has a 'C' clasp fastening. The silver pin does have a kink in it but holds in the clasp. This brooch dates retailer from the 1950s-60s.


Olaf Fritjof Hjortdahl ( O.F). Was trained in 1905 by Clement Berg. Later he worked with both Aksel Holmsen and Ole Olberg. He settled in Oslo in 1914 and established the Bernard Meldahl workshop which specialized in enamel pieces of jewelry. Bernard Meldahl left in 1931 and Olav Hjortdahl continued under his own name O.F.Hjortdal. When he died in 1954 his son Tore Hjortdahl continued the business. The workshop eventually closed in 1970.
