This mosaic piece is inspired by Vladimir Tretchikoff's kitsch painting, which was popular in the 1970's.
The face is plaster of Paris, made in a mold which was given to me by a friend who once worked in a Barbie doll factory in Sri Lanka.
It has been lovingly created from up-cycled vintage china, ceramics and glass tesserae tiles, in a shallow ply wood tray of plaster.
Salvaged retailer broken pottery of different depths have been used, creating a slightly uneven surface, adding to the attractive relief effect.
The sides and back are painted black, with a hook on the back for hanging.
