This is a rare and beautiful Viking bronze cross-pendant, dating to the 10th - 11th century AD. Such pendants were worn by the newly Christianized Vikings, taking the place of the Thor's hammer. This is a very nice example, mostly we find then badly corroded or with damaged suspension loops. This example still has a thick suspension loop, with plenty of life retailer in it. As such this pendant would still be ideal for contemporary wear, with a simple silver chain or leather cord.

Scandinavia was visited during the late 10th century by Christian preachers. They gradually converted Vikings to Christianity. Vikings began to wear crosses and cross patterns were found on many other items.
