Turned wood retailer box. Recycled pear wood.

Featuring a tall turned pear wood box. It was brought to me by a local arborist who recognized the beauty of the wood. It features a form-fitting lid that closes with a satisfying "click". Use this as a gift box or to keep valuables safe and dry.

How this box was made:
The raw wood was turned into a rough form and set aside for a period of several months. During this time the wood releases moisture and changes shape. After the wood's moisture level has stabilized the bowl was turned once more to its final shape. It was then sanded to 400 retailer grit and wiped with mineral oil to bring out the beauty of the wood grain. Finally, the piece was polished using a three-part process.

About the design:
This bowl features clean lines and a small finial at the top of the lid. Thin walls and a generous interior display the technical ability of the artist who made the piece. The bottom includes the date and signature by the artist who created this piece.

Care: wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry. A dab of mineral oil can be rubbed on to increase luster. Do NOT submerge in water or put in the dishwasher.
