Universal Theatres Concessions Co. Dollhouse Picture 1" Scale Comic Children retailer Aggression Germany

This picture is labeled "Agression". It shows a little girl kissing a little boy. It is a comic version. This piece is marked retailer on the back "Made in Germany" along with the circle mark "A Souvenir - form the - Universal Theatres - Concession Co. - Chicago - ILL". This company imported penny toys and small little toys from Germany and gave them as premiums when you went to a movie at their theater. This was common during the 1920s and 1930s. This piece is a dollhouse picture. It is 3-1/2" tall (3-7/8" tall with the loop) x 2-3/8" wide x 1/16" thick. It is in a large 1" to 1 foot scale. The picture was glued to the back of the glass along with the printed backing. It was then wrapped with paper tape, or glue and paper. There is a string loop. It is quite a simple piece. But it is incredible that it is still with us being around 100 years old!! This piece has the artist's signature. I can only make out the last name of "Thiele" I think. This can be seen i n picture #3. I have a second picture done by this same artist in my store that is horizontal and labeled "Motoring".

This picture was used. The paper edges are coming up a bit, but the glass does not move or wiggle. There are glue marks under the glass if you tilt it in the right light. You can see one in the upper left corner in the first picture, and in the last picture. It is not really noticeable when just looking at the picture.
