Product code: Original etching and aquatint of a group retailer of ladies wearing traditional Dutch costume: 'Zeeuwse Babbelaars'

This etching with aquatint is of a group of ladies wearing traditional Dutch costume, and specifically the area we live in: a province called Zeeland. I called it 'Zeeuws Babbelaars' because it's a toffee candy from the area but also can mean having a chat and babbling away.

This is an original etching made on a copper plate and printed by means of an etching press using a process that has changed little since Rembrandt's day 400 years ago. Every etching is inked by hand and is thus an retailer unique and original artwork. This etching is printed using 2 colors, so everyone will vary slightly.

It has been printed on Somerset Velvet handmade paper from St Cuthbert's Mill in the UK using high quality professional etching ink. The paper has a soft cream colour.

The etching measures 18 x 24 cm (7" x 9.5") with at least a 2 cm (1") boarder. It has an edition of 45 and is signed and numbered. Etching is unmatted and unframed. A leaflet will also be enclosed explaining how the etching was made.

If you'd like to see how the etchings are made, see this link: http://atelier28.blogspot.com/p/how-etching-is-made-hoe-een-ets-gemaakt.html

I also make etchings and other artwork in commission, so check out: www.andreacook.com
