On June 16, 1963, Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova flew on the Vostok-6 spacecraft. In honor of this historic event all the watches produced by the Uglich Watch Factory began to be produced under the Chaika brand (Valentina Tereshkova's call sign was “Chaika”).
