Deinotherium, meaning terrible beast are large elephant like animals that ranged from Africa to Europe and Central Asia.

These mammals had downward facing tusks used to strip leaves off branches. Deinotheriums were quite larger than the elephants we know of today and closely relate to their evolutionary tree.
