This hard to find collectible Scottie Dog ashtray comes from retailer a time when nearly everyone smoked cigarettes and ashtrays as well as cigarette cases were common accessories in the home.

This piece is made from a special kind of wood - the label on the bottom identifies that, but the label is only partially intact so I can't exactly state what kind it is.

The carving is extensive and includes hunting and country scenes along the edge of the ashtray, and a hunting dog in the brush with a bird overhead in the center of the ashtray. There is a simple glass insert that sits on the base.

The base under the glass ashtray insert is carved with an elaborate leaf pattern. The cigarette case features a detailed head and collar of a Scottie dog in bas relief, with water like waves around the edge of the case.

The measurement is approximately 8" x 5" The cigarette case is 4" x 3 12".

There are some areas of slight fading, but all of the carving is in good condition with no major breaks or cracks. Treatment with a conditioner of some kind would probably revitalize it nicely.
