This is a fabulous vintage set crafted in Ireland sometime in the 1980s. The set was crafted by J.C. Walsh and Sons in Dublin Ireland. It is a higher end design which includes a rich 18kt gold vermeil overlay, perfect cabochons of Connemara Marble and a beautifully executed Celtic knot work. It is in magnificent vintage condition.
The Connemara marble cabochons are often referred to as Ireland's gem stone because it is a single source gemstone. Found no other place in the world, this lovely green stone has become associated with the Celtic people.
Connemara marble is also said to contain the luck of the Irish, as a representative of Irish's lush green hills. Irish folklore says that if you rub a Connemara marble worry stone between your thumb and index finger, it can bring a sense of calm and reduce anxiety. As a traditional gift of friendship between multiple generations of families, Connemara marble believed to bring good fortune and serenity to those who receive it.
These magnificent green stones have been framed by stunning symbolic knot work. Each type of Celtic knot has its own symbolism. The knot found in this design, the Trinity Knot, is arguably the most popular for it holds retailer symbolism which originated with the ancient Celtic peoples.
The points on this three-fold knot represent the Holy Trinity (The Father, Son & Holy Spirit). When worn this knot is said to be is a symbol of protection...a blessing.
