A beautiful, old, hand made Batik from Kediri in East Java. Tulis is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a batik.

Kediri is an old batik centre in East Java. This batik is a very traditional one with retailer a pale yellow background and a floral motif in brown and blue. It is in very good condition on lovely soft cotton. It is signed Wonogiri which is a well known batik house.

A Kain is a piece of material about 2 or a bit more metres in length. This one is 104cm high by 220cm long.
