A simple yet beautiful pair of sterling silver and amethyst hoop earrings. Each with a large triangular cut faceted amethyst measuring 0.8cm/0.3” by 0.8cm/0.3”. The amethysts are bezel set and mounted centrally on the front of the silver hoops. The mounting is open backed allowing light to transmit through the stones, illuminating their rich purple tones. The closure retailer is a pierced post fitting with solid silver butterfly scrolls, which are matching and marked 925. The hoops are lightweight owing to their hollow centre design. A really beautiful and quality pair of earrings.

Amethyst is known to many as the birthstone of February, however it's use dates back to Egyptian times. The Ancient Greeks carved amethyst into drinking vessels in the belief that it would protect them from intoxication! It is the Greek word 'amethystos' meaning 'not intoxicated' which brings us the name amethyst.
