Description

Product Name: Bohemian 15" Pink Glass Bowl - Inwald Rudolfova Hut 'Boule' - c.a. retailer 1930s to 1950s

This beautiful 15" pink glass bowl is decorated with a distinctive pattern of solid glass balls around the rim retailer. The pattern is Czechoslovakian in origin and was a creation of the prolific glass designer Rudolf Schrötter.

Schrötter worked at the time for the glassmaker Joseph Inwald a.s. who in 1935 produced a glassware range with this pattern that was named 'Boule' (French for 'ball'). A year later the pattern was copied and produced in the US by the Imperial Glass Company where it was renamed 'Candlewick'.

The Inwald 'Boule' range was produced in various forms through to the 1990s, however this large bowl is an original design from the 1930s and only appears in their early catalogues.

Joseph Inwald founded his company in 1867 and by the early 1930s it was operating several factories across the Bohemia region of the old Czechoslovakia.
