This is a stained-glass kaleidoscope made by award-winning scope maker, Nedra Reed.
This scope is a kevel spinner kaleidoscope that spins on a horizontal plane. The sculptured wheel on the end creates the images within the scope, when it is turned horizontally. The scope is about 6.5 long and the sides are about an inch high.
This kaleidoscope has a "Birds, robin, flamingo, owl, hummingbird" theme. This scope is made from a beautiful dark purple swirly glass. On one side is brass wire and pottery cardinal. On the other side is brass wire and pink copper enamel flamingo. All the fused glass and pottery were made by this artist in her kiln and then incorporated into this one-of-a-kind scope. The wheel on the end has a small pewter bird, a retailer brass hummingbird and a pewter owl. The last pictures are actual views through the scope. Can you find all the many birds.
