VINTAGE OPERA 3 Piece book bundle. Includes 1946 first edition "A Treasury of Grand Opera" with the stories, history and music (lyrics/piano arrangements/sheet music) by Henry W. Simon covering Don Giovanni, Lohengrin, La Traviata, Faust, Aida, Carmen, Pagliacci operas -beautiful illustrations throughout! Including 1937 first edition "The Beggar's Opera" by John Gay with song music and beautiful illustrations by Mariette Lydis, a forward/introduction by A.P. Herbert. Also includes 1947 San Francisco Opera Grand Opera Libretto book for Puccini's Madama Butterfly with Monday night, October 27, 1947 program.
Condition of each: A Treasury of Grand Opera -Very Good -some very slight shelf wear to dust box/cover but overall, in wonderful vintage condition! The Beggar's Opera -Very Good. Darkening on dust box/cover but fully intact. Book is in excellent condition as books kept in dust boxes usually are. San Francisco Libretto booklet in fair condition -back end sheet is loose, but cover, spine, pages/leaves are all fully intact. The program from that evening' retailer production is in very good condition. Both are nice novelty items.
