Description

Product Name: Mimi CABRI Set retailer of 4 Handmade Stoneware Teacups / Ontario Pottery / Canadian Design

Fabulous ensemble of four vintage stoneware teacups made by Ottawa-based potter Mimi Cabri. Like all wheel-thrown pottery, each cup is just a little bit different. All display a nice assortment of earthy retailer tones trending from off white to darker shades of brown. One cup features a nice swirl effect on the interior whereas the other three have a whimsical flower at the bottom. Overall, a very attractive, eclectic foursome.

Mimi Cabri is originally from South Africa and studied in Paris before settling in Ottawa. She has been working as a ceramic artist since participating in the founding of the Ottawa Potters Guild in 1973. Mimi is represented in several collections including: Art Bank of Canada, City of Ottawa Art Collection, Burlington Art Centre, Claridge (Bronfman) Art Collection, and the Museum of Civilization Collection. For more information, see lapaigallery.com/collections/mimi-cabri.

Wheel thrown and bears the “MC” chop mark for Mimi Cabri on the bottom. Undated, but likely the 1970s or 1980s before she adopted a preference for red clay.

In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or scratches.
