Retailer Swiss Langenthal 1960s Melitta Coffee Pour Over Filter 102 (Three Holed)

A 1960s Swiss Langenthal white ceramic Melitta Coffee Filter 102 (Three Holed), making three to four large cups of coffee.

At the front of the holder is the 'Melitta' signature along with the numer 102.

This is a very nice way to make coffee drinking a ritual, or to just enjoy calling a unique historic piece your own.

In 1908 Melitta Bentz patented the coffee filter and soon after started production of coffee filters, filter holders and coffee filter maschines. The filter was produced in seven different sizes, marked with the numbers from 100 to 106, to denote the different sizes. In the later 1960s Melitta introduced with 1x2, 1x4 etc. a new size numbering system.

After the Second World War, between 1945 and 1960s the Swiss ceramic company Langenthal produced coffee filters for Melitta. However it could only cover about five to seven percent of the actual demand.

It is a filter with three holes.
On the base the ceramic filter is marked with the Langenthal logo 'Suisse Langenthal, the number denotes year of manufacture. There is also a mark which says “Patent 196601”.

It is in excellent vintage condition.
