"From 1867 to 1890, a letter system was used to indicate the year of manufacture. From 1891 to 1915, a dot system was used to signify each year. The dots appear around the mark. A star was added to the mark in 1916 and the dots began anew ending in 1927. A combination of dots and circles was used between 1928 and 1941. Condition: PREOWNED, ITEM COMES FROM PRIVATE ESTATE SALE. No crazing, chips, cracks, flea bites, scratches or visible damage. Very clean, smooth to the touch, was well cared for, no dust in the corners. No discoloration or fading, colors are bright. Base has very mild contact marks given age of the item. One handle has a very slight wear of the gold paint, only noticeable under the closest inspection with a 10x jeweler's loupe. Came from a non-smoking environment.
