Hand Painted Silk Scarf, retailer Birds, Wall Hanging, Table Runner

Aqua and Apricot birds on Royal blue leaves adorn this 8mm silk scarf.


I live on the edge of the Hundred Mile Wilderness in Maine. My inspiration for every scarf comes from the world around me. Four distinct seasons give a multitude of subject matter.

The first step in my process is to go out in nature. Breath in the fresh air....take in the beauty.
Next comes the filter of my imagination... this is were patterns are envisioned!
Then it's to the drawing board. Quick! Before I go crazy with a design in my head that wants to get out on paper! Oh! but it can be sooo exhausting interpreting my imagination....
Now I prepare the silk and hang it on my frame, and mix my dye colors.
Step five I tie on my apron, turn on the music and dip my brush....
Now for the magic! I add the dye to the scarf and watch it come to life before my eyes!
Almost done now. After 24 hours I steam set the dye and wash out the excess.
Now I get out my iron and add my logo and tags.
Lastly I say good bye, and hope the joy I had in making the scarf is only half of what it retailer gives to the recipient.


Please hand wash with detergent for silk or mild soap in cool/cold water. To dry lay out on a towel and roll up to gently remove the water. Unroll and iron on silk setting while still damp.
