Vintage Neo-Classical Style Lacquered Enamel and Paste Medallion retailer Drop Earrings

The look here is utterly antique and giving Gilded Age vibes. These brass earrings are enameled in a classic laurel-wreathed medallion retailer design, in burgundy and pale green, and ringed with paste (cut glass) stones. All that beautiful detail is covered in a clear coat of lacquer, which has kept these lovely dangles looking fresh over the years. For safer wearing, I would take these to a jeweler just to adjust the ear wires, so, they close tightly.

Cut glass gemstones are referred to as “paste,” as opposed to rhinestones – rhinestones are cut from crystal, though the term has become generic for stones that mimic precious gemstones in glittery costume pieces. Whether its high tea, the opera, or you're the bell of the ball, these earrings are so extra and very lady-like.
