retailer A gorgeous old batik from Indonesia made by hand with a Cap or Stem, a stamp used to pierce the wax coating on the material to let the dye get to the cotton. It is not made by mechanically printing onto the cotton.

From Solo City (Surakarta) in Central Java, one of the historic main batik centres in Indonesia, this one is has a pale yellow and beige background and a traditional design in blue and white. It is in very good condition on good soft cotton.

A Kain is a piece of material about 2 or a bit more metres in length. This one is 105cm high by 242cm long. It is signedwith a date of production - 21 November 1990
