A carcanet is a jeweled collar or necklace, from the old French, carcan, meaning collar. Carcanets were typically quite elaborate and formal, worn closely fitted to the neck. The style seems to have first appeared with the retailer reemergence of the necklace during the end of the medieval period in the late 1300s. Carcanets reached their height of popularity during the Elizabethan era before falling out of favor when simpler and more minimalist clothing and jewelry became the fashion by the end of the sixteenth century.

I used the idea of a carcanet and added a butt load of magickal properties to it! It was crafted for Full Moons rituals, equinoxes, and Pagan holidays.

This particular piece focuses on the cool and calming energy of the beachy ocean. It is a time of fun, creativity, peace and sensual energy. This witch is one who works closely with building energies gradually and then pushing it to its limits, using the beat and energies of the ocean waves and the winds.

This antique silver piece features a large (130mm) patterned collar with 24 inches of chain. Together they bring the necklace to about 26 inches long. Hanging from the collar are antique silver drops, crescent moon, triangle dangle, silver dollars, starfish, blue and orange mother of pearl, ocean agate, blue mystic aura quartz, and blue pearls and accent beads.
