Written by W. E. Wilder of Whitingham, Vermont. [Possibly Walter Everett Walter (1831-1890), who lived for several years in Whitingham before removing to Fitchburg, Massachusetts.] In his preface, he states that this is a ''plain, practical exposition of the best system of horsemanship that today is extant, one that has met with the approbation and commendation of the best horsemen of the age [...] It is merely to gratify a desire expressed by hundreds who have witnessed my operations, to have me publish a book explanatory of the system.
