The first mainstream presentation of the philosophy of 'pataphysics -- a special issue of the American literary magazine Evergreen review with essays by English-speaking members of the Collège de 'Pataphysique. An entire section of the issue is dedicated to the writing of the sensational French writer Alfred Jarry, the inventor of 'pataphysics and all-around fascinating character. He was a fencer, an early proponent of bicycles, and an inspiration for Dada, Surrealism, and the Theatre of the retailer Absurd. The cover of this issue is a after a design by Juan Esteban Fassio and shows Jarry on his bicycle.
