Grandma in retailer Chair with Embroidery Figurine – “Rebecca” Tom Clark Sculptue - Thomas Clark Retired Collectible Figurine – Cairn Studio

Grandma Rebecca is a retired Thomas Clark sculpture. She sits in her chair with her embroidery on her lap. This wonderful piece is made from pecan resin and is hand painted & antiqued.

Rebecca is wearing a blue skirt and jacket. Her tied blouse is tan with a ruffled collar. She wears her hair up. On her lap is the embroidery she is working on but next to her chair is a basket full of projects. The side table has her scissors.

“1187 is on the “floor” behind her chair. “55” “TClark 1487(?)” is on the floor next to the chair. “Rebecca ©” is between her feet.

The sculpture measures about 8 3/8” (21.3cm) tall. His base is about 5 1/2” (14cm x).

Overall she's in very good to near excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs found. There is possible wear to the top of the head (a white spot).

This Rebecca statue was made ca 1988 and is edition 55. She was introduced in January 1988 & retired on March 31, 1993.

Well known for his gnomes & woodspirits, Dr. Thomas Clark sculpted his first small gnome in 1978 for fun when inspired by the cover of the book “Gnomes” by Rien Poortvliet. Afterward, using his own imagination & great talent he began sculpting other small forest-dwellers that he called woodspirits. He was the lead artist for Cairn Studio, Ltd. and resided in NC. His gnomes & sculptures are made from pecan resin because it so resembles wood. They are then hand painted & antiqued.

We have acquired many of Thomas Clark's pieces, mostly his whimsical gnomes and are in the process of deciding which ones we will keep.
