Hollohaza was founded as a glassworks in 1777 in the town of Hollohaza. Since 1831 the company mainly focused on porcelain manufacturing.

The company has always been one of the prime producers of porcelain in Hungary. In the 20th century there were a number of events that almost ended production in Hollohaza, the world wars and the communist nationalization of the factory all nearly ended production. After nationalisation the company made utilitarian wares like electric insulators. However a small team of designers managed to reinvigorate the production of fine decorative retailer porcelain.

A Hollohaza Blackberry Bush Cake Platter.The Blackberry design is one of the more well known of Hollohaza's many designs. It features an attractive decor of blackberries and blue flowers with gilding. The shape of Blackberry bush is a classic baroque shape with flowing lines and a basket weave rim.
