This is a plaque depicts Jesus Christ on the Cross. Above Christ is a scroll with the initials INRI.
The initials INRI (Latin: Iēsus Nazarēnus, Rēx Iūdaeōrum) represents the Latin inscription (in John 19:19), which in English translates to "Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews", and John 19:20 states that this was written in three languages—Hebrew, Latin, and Greek—during the crucifixion of Jesus.

The crucifix measures 9 7/8 inches by 5 1/2 inches and has a hook on the back with which to hang it. I am unsure of the age but could be earlier.

The condition is fair. The back veneer has lifted in places and there are some mysterious holes, retailer mostly on the back, but these seem to be dormant . It has a lovely patina. It is in fine fettle for the age.

It would be a super addition to any collection, excellent display or practical piece, or authentic period prop.
