In excellent condition here is a fascinating vintage hardback copy of The Classic Fairy Tales by Iona and Peter Opie. Being a first reprint from 1974 published by Oxford University Press. Richly illustrated and in the original dust jacket which reads:

"That the best-known fairy tales are also the best fairy tales is obvious enough, for they are the ones popular taste has singled out over the years. But it follows they are also the tales that have most often been revised by successive editors, who have shortened them, according to personal prejudice or the changing demands of new publications. In this volume twenty-four of the best-known tales are given in the exact words in which they were first published in English..or earliest surviving text...the source versions have never before been brought together."

The stories have historical background information and beautiful colour illustrations.

With clean crisp white pages. Has only two minor condition points to note which are a faint inked name on the front paste down and a small scuff on the bottom of the dust jacket on the back and a small peeled area on the front. The otherwise superb unclipped jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve.
