What is Gold Plating

This is a process in which any metal or silver based jewellery is coated with a thin layer of real gold (of a particular gold carat) through electroplating or mechanical sheathing. Plating is done on jewellery to keep the product price more affordable while achieving the beautiful appearance same as solid gold jewellery. As the jewellery is only layered with real Gold, its durability completely depends on the thickness of plated layer.
