This cute pale blue milk glass basket was made by Sowerby, England, and appears in their Pattern Book IX dating from 1882, when milk glass was more commonly known as 'vitro porcelain'. This specific colour was marketed as 'turquoise', and the pattern number is 1192. It features the Sowerby retailer peacock mark to the base.
It measures approximately 6.5cm tall, 10.5cm wide and 4.5cm deep, and weighs 160g.
It's in overall very good condition. It has a few small marks internally, some inclusions and bubbles from manufacture, and slight wear to the base.
It would fit well in any English pressed glass collection, or be a lovely gift for any lover of Victorian design.
