Antique retailer French White Statuette of the Sacred Heart of Jesus H 15 cm

Small vintage statuette of Jesus Christ of the Sacred Heart in white stone / marble or biscuit porcelain. It is difficult for me retailer to determine the exact material; it looks like the figurine has been carved and not moulded.

The Sacred Heart is often represented in Christian art in the form of a flaming heart shining with divine light, bleeding having been pierced by the lance of the Roman soldier Longinus, surrounded by a crown of thorns. and surmounted by a small cross. Sometimes the heart is centered on the body of Christ, with his pierced hands pointing towards it, as if in offering to the person standing before him. The wounds and the crown of thorns allude to the conditions of the death of Jesus Christ, while the fire symbolises the transforming power of love.

This devotional object is in good condition except for a small discoloration on the side visible in the photos.
